Transitioning to Open RAN is a significant undertaking but it has the potential to lower costs, improve flexibility and customer experience. However, the increased complexity and a wrong configuration could present operators with a new set of challenges, including integration costs, performance and even security. The latter is a particular area of concern, as the decentralization of functions with Open RAN increases the surface area for attack. This session will assess the steps to consider when transitioning to Open Ran.
